My boys are growing up so fast.
Jonathan is talking and sounding more like a grownup (despite the tantrums) It is really quite frightening and humorous at times. In typical toddler fashion he dawdles and it quite frequently coincides right about the time that we are trying to get out the door.
Since I still have a nursing baby, I'm always trying to time things so that I don't have to nurse him when we're out and about. This results in a hurry up mentality on my part and I'm not very patient when I want to get out of the house quickly.
So I will tell Jonathan "come on please, let's go", or "go get your shoes and socks, so we can go please". After 2 or 3 times of asking him, my tone of voice will escalate and I will add a firm "NOW" to the end of the request. It appears to be coming full circle because now I have a pretty impatient toddler who requests nicely 2 or 3 times for "can you get me a drink of water please mom" and then it quickly turns in to "I want a drink of water NOW! Now mom!" Most of you know that whiny voice I'm talking about. Well, I didn't realize how ugly it sounds- so I know what I need to work on. Thankfully it's in the beginning stages and I can nip it in the bud now, before it gets to be a big habit with him.
Some of the funny things he's been saying
The other day we went to the health food store to get some things and we also got Jonathan some yogurt pretzels from the bulk bin. I asked him for 2 pretzels please and he said "sure mom". A couple minutes later I ask for 1 more and he says "I already gave you some mom, but I'll let you have 1 more I guess"
Today I was laying down on the couch and Jonathan was playing with his cars. I find it relaxing when he pushes them up and down my back and legs- it's like a mini massage. So I asked him to do it for me and he did for a little bit and stopped. I asked him to do it again and he said "I already did it one time mom, I don't want to do it more times"
Lachlan on the other hand is getting too big too fast. I was holding him on my lap with his head on my knees, his back on my thighs and his legs on my tummy. He was previously just sitting up facing me while I held his hands, so I was guiding him to lay down and naturally moved my hands to support his head- only as soon as I did that he used his strong abdominal muscles to pull himself back up. He's growing too fast.
He is also very interested in eating whatever it is we are eating. I fed him some avocado the other day and he loved it- his tummy didn't agree with it though, as he spit it up ten minutes later. He loves to drink from cups (assisted of course)
He wants to sit at the table with us. And today he launched himself from his "safe" place on the couch, on to the floor. I guess the couch isn't so safe anymore. He is doing really well on his tummy time exercise. He will push himself in a little circle trying to grab things- it's so cute. He is also not very fond of being propped up in his car seat anymore- he arches his back when he's had enough and he will push himself out of the car seat. He also grabs on to the side and pulls himself up and out
He also has 2 teeth fully in with a 3rd poking through the gums and a possible 4th one on its way. People he is only 5 months old! From the looks of things he's going on 5 years old already- he is so eager to grow up and learn.
When he is going to sleep he will moan himself to sleep. Maybe one of these times we'll get an audio clip and you can hear it. It's so cute too.
He loves to play with Jonathan and for the most part Jonathan will share toys with him and make him happy. Jonathan is a good big brother and I've heard him saying (when Lachlan is crying) "It's ok Lachlan, I'm right here, it's ok"
What sweet boys I have- they are growing right before my eyes. I'm so blessed to have them in my life.
