a little vacation and progress

the boys and I just got back from a 12 day trip to utah. We had so much fun and only started missing daddy when we reunited with him.
(When Jonathan saw hans again and then hans had to go to the bathroom Jonathan asked me "Where's my dad with the yellow shirt?" I thought it was quite funny seeing as Hans was wearing a yellow shirt.)
Hans on the other hand was here by himself. But I think he had fun. he got to eat all the food he likes and I don't like, things like fish, sardines, meat and reuben sandwiches- bleck. He also was able to watch all the movies I don't care to watch- (men in black, indiana jones, 21, among other things)
Hans was also able to get lots of momentum going on his research and we are all excited that he is progressing. He is trying to gather lots of data now and put together his prospectus which is the next step towards ph.d dom. Basically an outline of what his plans/dissertation will be.
While he was busy with all that we were busy catching up with friends and family. We first started out flying into Vegas to go to my brother Justins graduation from pharmacy school. We all went to Olive Garden for lunch and while we were there Justin read a beautiful tribute to his wife Dorothy about what a great support she has been for him- and how much this day was for her as it was for him. It was so sweet- we were all crying. It's so great to see how my brother has grown in marriage and how they are so good for each other. It was a fun couple days there. My sister Deana and her husband treated us to a show at the Wynn Hotel, La Reve by Cirque du Soleil. It was AMAZING. Jonathan was able to play with his cousin Kelsey who lives there in Vegas. He had fun and too little sleep.
We all drove back to Utah on Saturday the 7th. My sister Lexi and I along with her husband Dillon went to my 10 year High school reunion that same day. It was fun to see everyone that was there, but almost like a time warp.
The next week we spent with my in laws who moved to Saratoga Springs. Jonathan was confused and asked grandma where her other house was. We had a lot of fun visiting and just being there with them- we went to the Lehi Rec Center and swam in the pool/lazy river/ water tree house/most awesome pool ever.
I had things planned everyday, so we stayed quite busy. I got to visit with my good friend Sue who I've been friends with since 6th grade and it was quite the miracle that ALL our kids took naps/played together nicely while we were able to visit for nearly 7 hours kid free (subtract lunch when we all ate together) We both felt that Heavenly Father had blessed us to be able to share that much time together. It was so fun to laugh and really be together. Thanks Suzie for lunch and for being my friend :-) I love you.
It looks like we will be heading out to utah again in July. Nicholas and Kendra (hans brother and his bros girlfriend) are getting married July 16th. Hans hopes to be able to record a bunch of organs while we are there- it will help alot with his work. We will be driving and camping half way. While I"m not really looking forward to the long drive in a cramped car it will be fun to be together as a family on our last vacation before graduation.
We also found out that Russel and Michelle (hans bro and his bros wife) are expecting December 24th- that is so exciting. I hope it's a girl.
Vacations are a lot of fun- but I'm glad to be home. It is always so refreshing to get away from everyday life and be able to take a step back and really see what is most important in life, my husband, children and extended/immediate family. I am so blessed to have a great family and great in laws. I love you all. (And none of them ever read my blog- so I'm just shooting the breeze here feeling greatful)
All for now:-)
