Happy Anniversary

Today marks the day I have been married for 7 years.  7 years ago I was so in love and ready to get married.  Now I’m more in love and happier then I’ve ever been thanks to the wonderful man who calls me his wife.  I love you hubby, here’s to another wonderful 7  years.  For those of you that can’t recall why I love him so much, click here.

One of many V.E.E.E.’s (Very Exciting Encouraging Experiences)

Lately, I have been searching, pondering and praying over what I could do to combat the problem of pornography.  Many years ago, when Hans and I were first married and living in BYU married student housing, I was privileged to hear JoAnn Hibbert Hamilton speak in our ward.  As the founder of http://www.strengthenthefamily.net/. I would call her the “know it all” of how to fight this daily battle. I dipped my toe in the water then, to try out some of her suggestions, but was overwhelmed and afraid to do much of anything, though it still bothered me.

A couple weeks ago Jonathan, Lachlan and I walked down the block to our friendly neighborhood Albertsons .  I went in, grabbed the few things I needed and made my way to the self checkout.  While passing the check out lanes I glanced at the magazines.  Most of them were your typical fare, but ONE STOOD OUT above all the rest.  On the cover of Entertainment Magazine was a picture of a man, on top of a woman. Both, were STARK NAKED, except for a few… fig leaves were they???  I did not stop to clarify.  Obviously the advertisement was for something of a sexual nature, but it was so PROUFOUNDLY out of the ordinary that it shocked me.   What bothered me the most was that it was on the bottom rack RIGHT WHERE MY CHILDREN COULD SEE IT. I just updated my goals and wrote entries on my progress over at 43things.com.  I’m so excited about my new goals.  I have so much joy in my life right now and it’s so refreshing.  If you get a chance and feel so inclined take a look over there and let me know what you think.  The link is on my sidebar- first one under “sites I like to frequent”

One day at a time

Things have been going well around here lately.  I’m not sure if it’s because the weather makes me ten times happier, I’m doing the right things or because a big trial is about to present itself in my life.  Either way, I’m doing my best to live one day at a time and enjoy each moment as I’m experiencing it.  It’s one of those periods in my life where everything seems perfectly clear and in focus and I am reveling in the clarity and peace that it gives me.  (more…)

Our right to vote and how I’m going to CHANGE the WORLD!!!

I hope you all know that this Tuesday is Election Day.  I also hope that you are all planning on voting and having your voice be heard.  I’ve always had a so-so attitude about voting.  This year, however, I got a very powerful email (at least for me) from my dear friend Sue.  After reading it, I thought that by not voting, I have inadvertently caused those women to suffer in vain.  (more…)

Lachlan

I’ve been posting a lot on Jonathan lately, but Lachlan has not been forgotten.  he keeps me busy and on my toes.  he is such a sweet baby.  you would hardly know he was mine with his blue eyes and blond hair.  He is 9 1/2 mos old already and so proud of himself in everything he does.

The payoff

Most rewards for Moms are intangible.  The past two days though, Jonathan has told me I was a nice girl.  In the first instance I had packed him a lunch- peanut butter& honey & craisins tortilla, carrots and apple slices.  He opened it and said “OH THANKS MOM, You’re a nice girl”…It made me laugh and smile.  What a sweet boy.  And then today I took him to the park and he told me again “You’re a nice girl”.  He is learning so quickly and it’s so rewarding to see him learning the good things.  He’s so sincere too and that is just precious.

a little vacation and progress

the boys and I just got back from a 12 day trip to utah. We had so much fun and only started missing daddy when we reunited with him.

(When Jonathan saw hans again and then hans had to go to the bathroom Jonathan asked me “Where’s my dad with the yellow shirt?” I thought it was quite funny seeing as Hans was wearing a yellow shirt.)

Hans on the other hand was here by himself. But I think he had fun. he got to eat all the food he likes and I don’t like, things like fish, sardines, meat and reuben sandwiches- bleck. He also was able to watch all the movies I don’t care to watch- (men in black, indiana jones, 21, among other things)

our magical sun- the baby poop stain taker outer

anyone who has had a baby can attest to the fact of life that babies can be pretty messy creatures- especially when it comes to their poop. through my first baby i thought i had the removal of bright yellow poop from cute little clothes down. shout was my friend.

this time around, shouting out my stains is just not cutting it. i have given up on one too many onesies- they have all joined their comrades in onesie heaven… until yesterday.

Yesterday was by far the WORST blowout I have ever experienced. It was everywhere, I thought for sure my bed sheets, mattress and the onesie on my child were doomed. I decided to google “baby poop stain remover” and the general consensus was that you should use oxy clean and cold water ASAP in the washing machine and then set out the offending item in the sun to dry.

I didn’t test my mattress, but I did exactly as prescribed for the onesie. When I pulled it out of the washing machine the yellow stain was still visible, so I took it outside till it dried. Half hour later I go to retrieve it and lo and behold there is NO sign of YELLOW anywhere.

Victory! HAllelujah! If you are plagued by the yellow plague of death formerly know as baby poop stains- you have got to try this to believe it. I’m a convert!

My early perfect mothers day

What a wonderful husband I have. And what a wonderful day today was. Even though I was BLOODY tired today and I was debating whether or not I would be grumpy today as I layed in bed this morning, it turned out perfectly.

Hans let me ’sleep in’ till 8, even though Lachlan didn’t- he was laying next to me in the bed and kicking me and grabbing my lips and eyes and poking my nose, and just smiling. he’s too cute to not look at or pay attention to. It was still restful though just being in bed. I enjoy having the boys wake me up in the morning for the most part. They’re both so happy, sometimes too happy, I’m not a morning person- that’s something I have to work on.
